At the tail-end of this (most excellent) installment of "Inside Furman Athletics", Dan announces a bonus edition (if all goes according to plan): CBR will join Dan tomorrow (Thurs) at 9:30am (Eastern) to discuss incoming players. Not sure if there's a live broadcast, but Dan's team usually posts these very quickly thereafter.

Good luck to CBR and staff in figuring it out. May be the toughest job so far in his tenure.

With Johnson and Bowser at the 5 sounds like Coach Richey wants to move Hien to the 4 with Hughey, might be good for Hien as this summer he can work on mobility and shooting more and not have to worry about keeping/adding any bulk to play the 5.

Sounds like we have Sullinger and Bronson at 1, Smith and Anderson at 2 and House plus Vanderwal at 3.
Obviously some guys are multi positional...
Alot of fun different lineups can be rolled out with that top 10...

I wouldn’t count out Humphries & Molnar. CBR gave nods to them, too.

Fascinating to hear some details on our off season recruiting. Identified 8 potential players. Passed on 2. Missed on 1. Signed 5. Great work by our coaching staff. Future looks bright for next season.

Lots of interesting comments/subtext as usual. Very indirect allusion to NIL when CBR mentioned avoiding prospects 'committing for the wrong reason', and by "wrong reason" I interpreted him to mean 'we were among the highest bidders'.

Putting aside the issue of NIL policy, these signees are certainly interesting from a program/Furman athletics standpoint. While I have zero inside info, it's clear that players like Jalen Sullinger don't come cheap.

Getting UAB's basketball trainer also was a financial flex, which Richey noted when recounting that process.

Worth keeping in mind that financial commitment is one of the major factors in conference alignment. The ETSU AD's recent incoherent whining streak may reflect frustration with Furman fueling an arms race while siding with VMI, Citadel, etc against intra conference transfers.

I’ve always liked the idea of NIL but it’s frustrating that it’s turned into straight up pay to play…UW has arranged for a Utah State transfer to make 2 Mil next season.
CBR seems to be adapting and navigating the new landscape incredibly well.

I expect a much better rebounding team this year. Johnson had a lot of double doubles last year and Houuse wasn’t bad in very limited playing time. I think Johnson has a lot of upside as a big man, especially with his limited playing experience. House will thrive in the SOCON as well. Barry appears to be a clutch shooter. If this team develops some good chemistry, it should be fun to watch. When was the last time FU had two 6’11 bigs on the court at same time?

We will graduate 5 seniors this year.
A preliminary chart for 'next' offseason might looking someing like:

1: Bronson, Transfer guard

2: House, Humphries

3: Vanderwal, Molnar

4: Johnson, Smith

5: Bowser, Transfer forward

Recruit 2 Freshmen guards

Recruit 1 Freshmen forward

From what I've heard, we've been pretty active in recruiting freshmen for 2025-26
