Towards the end I noticed they stayed away from the rim when Bowser was in there. Our wild card going forward is playing Bowser at least 25 minutes to protect the rim and prevent easy baskets underneath...all teams know that is our weakness...take that away and we could have a big advantrage.

Checked the stat sheet. Hard to believe but Woolbright only took 9 shots. Made 6 of them for a super efficient 15 points. Dished off 11 assists and had 10 rebounds. Great player. If he would have forced up 15 or 16 shots he probably would have lost the game for Western.

Regarding a previous prediction of a Western win against Chatty on Sat. They will if they play like tonight but more likely they won't. On the road. Advantage Mocs.

I agree about rather facing Woffy in the tourney.

I’d also note that Woolbright almost single handedly beat us in the semifinals last year. It took us going to OT to win (and that was with Slawson and Bothwell). I thought WCU would be the favored No 1 this year with us at No 2. Weird how things play out.

I'd rather see Furman play Woffy than Western first round... then get a hack at (probably) Samford in the semi.
Like I said pick your poison. Both shoot the 3 well and FU does not defend the 3 well. Just hope who we play has a bad shooting night.
AP do you just come on here and make comments for the sake of making them?

Furman LEADS the league in opponent 3 pt FG% in conference play at 33%.
Yes that is what I do. :x Actually FU is 4th not leading the league as you say. A meaningless stat anyway as the difference between best and last is only 3 percentage points. Like I said FU does not defend the 3 well. Too many open shots. BTW FU is ninth in overall defense, only VMI is worse.

See there is a button in the top left corner of the Socon stats page and that says “CONFERENCE ONLY STATS” and you’ll see in 17 conference games, FU LEADS the league in 3 pt fg% defense at 33% like I said. I don’t just come on here and spew “facts” and claim them to be true. In conference only games, they are 5th in team defense, not ninth.

This is almost verbatim to what Richey said post game last night. Lately, in crucial parts of the game anybody can see they aren't getting to the shooters. Statistics be damned.

Foster looks injured and is favoring his knee. 1-10 last nite a good indication that he is injured. I suggest putting Williams in place of Foster vs Mercer and let Williams have his minutes...rest for Foster and badly needed minutes for Williams.

Agreed, Without Bowser we have zero rim protection and last night zero rebounds from the starter.

I agree that Foster looks like he needs to rest. If Wofford beats VMI - How we end up in terms of seeding is not dependent on whether we beat Mercer or not. We will be seed 4 or 5. If Western beats Chattanooga, we play western. If western loses to Chattanooga, we will play Wofford. Well, it would be nice to close out the season with the victory it’s not worth Losing Foster for the tournament.

tourny is going to be wide open.no team has consistently played well 3 straight games.i think the best draw for furman would be wofford ,sammy and chattanooga.but unless we can put together 3 it does not matter.we have a chance but it will not be easy!

Exactly. We can be very good, but we are not consistent.

Thought Huey played very tough last nite. Atheletically, one can see he "has it"

One more year of weights and it wil be fun to see how he develops

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
