NCAA Tournament

Ok so far Duke, Virginia, Kansas and NCA&T have quit their conference tournament because of A positive test. Can someone please explain why other sports can continue with multiple positives while basketball shuts down after one? Not surprised by Duke as coach K didn’t want to play from the start but the others? Just smells fishy especially when there is no danger to players. The NCAA has said if a team has 5 healthy players they can continue to play in the big dance,

Sounds like VMI/Woffy BS to me too. Now there is talk of Duke getting an invite to the NCAA even though the AD has said the season is over. No way in hell that should happen. Kentucky and Michigan State should be out too. UNC has played their way in.

A team that should be in but prob won't is 24-3 Belmont.

Rick Pitino is going back to the NCAA tournament. Iona won their conference tournament just one day short of a year after Pitino took the job.

It is the 5th team that Pitino has taken to the NCAAs.

Since we are down niw to the elite 8 heres what we have learned:
1. The B1G was way over-rated.
2. The Big 12 was way over-rated.
3. The tourney confirmed the ACC was as bad as thought, the worst in modern history.
4. The Pac-12 was grossly under-rated. 3 teams in the elite 8. 12-2 record with one loss to another Pac-12.
5. There are some pretty good teams outside the big 5.
6. The B1G, Big 12 and ACC did not deserve that many bids but nothing will ever change.

The National Championship game is set for Monday - Gonzaga vs. Baylor. Gonzaga is trying to be the first team since Indiana in 1976 to go undefeated in a season.

Baylor won easy over Houston tonight but Gonzaga had to go to OT to beat UCLA. An incredible game. The best game I have seen this year and one of the best Final Four games ever. Both teams shot well, played tough defense and made big play after big play. The game winning shot was a bomb from 40 something feet a couple of seconds after UCLA had hit the shot to tie the game.

The UCLA/Gonzaga game was one of the best I’ve ever seen. That is how the game of basketball is supposed to be played. For those that missed it, do yourself a favor. Find a replay. Beautiful basketball.

Baylor just won the National Championship with two Big South transfers playing heavy minutes, MaCio Teague from UNCA and Adam Flagler from Presbyterian. Flagler was the Big South Freshman of the Year in 18-19 on a PC team that won 20 games.

Imagine starting out your college basketball career in Clinton, SC and then winning the NCAA tournament. Rags to riches.

And that is why so many players from the mid major schools have entered the transfer portal. The dream is alive.

The ncaa transfer rule will continue to be bad for mid-majors. If a really good player develops at a midmajor now he can just pack his bags and go whereever with no consequences. In essence the midmajors will be the power 5 minor league system.
