And, they are not even called by the city name. It is the Hub City Spartanburgers. Something to do with the city's history as a railroad hub. How any of that makes sense is puzzling.

Growing up in Spartanburg, the nickname you'd most often hear was Sparkle City. Hub City has become more popular in the past twenty years or so. Recently, there was a Spartanburgers team that played at the ancient Duncan Park. iirc, they were in the same league as the Savannah Bananas.

One friend suggested the Spartanburg Marshals since this will be a Rangers affiliate and to honor the Marshal Tucker Band. I think that name is much better since it plays towards the history of the town, keeps the bland, unoffensive feel that so many team names have nowadays, and isn't embarrassing.

FUBeAR, already a fan of the Macon Bacon …and their mascot, Kevin, as well as a follower of the Savannah Bananas, approves of the Hub City Spartan Burgers … woulda preferred the Sparkle City Spartan Burgers or the Spartanburg Sparkle Burgers … but it’s good. Minor League Baseball is ALL ABOUT campy fun. FUBeAR finds cheeseburgers fun.

This is exactly what low ball teams should be.

The only dissapointment I have (other than that green color scheme - anyone remember the Greenville Groove development NBA team?) is that the Spartan-Burger should be a burger with leather shoes, a crimson cape, and helmet with the big furry thing. Like come on, go all in on the ridiculousness.

The Drive is both a noun and a verb... that is represented by a frog.
